WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Revolver
    • Available in Epic and Legendary variants.
    • Fires Medium Ammo.
    • Holds 6 rounds.
    • 63 / 66 damage per shot.
    • Headshot multiplier of 2.
    • Available from Floor loot, Chests, Vending Machines, Supply Drops, and Loot Carriers.
  • Vaulted
    • Rare Tactical Assault Rifle
      • With the unvaulting of the Suppressed Submachine Gun, we wanted to make sure loot distribution in this class of item was well distributed.
    • Impulse Grenades
    • Rift-To-Go
    • Pirate Cannon
  • Unvaulted
    • Uncommon and Rare Pump Shotgun
      • Available in floor loot and Vending Machines
      • There’s been a lot of feedback around the Tactical Shotgun and Combat Shotgun effectiveness, and so we’re experimenting with a world where the Pump Shotgun joins the current shotgun lineup.
    • Shockwave Grenade
    • Suppressed SMG
      • We feel the Suppressed Submachine Gun can fill a complementary role to the Burst Submachine Gun as a viable alternative.
    • Common, Uncommon, and Rare Revolver
  • Tactical Shotgun
    • Availability from floor loot reduced from 8.19% to 5.4%
    • Headshot Multiplier increased from 2 to 2.25
  • Burst SMG
    • Availability adjustments
      • Availability from floor loot reduced from 5.03% to 3.1%

    • Balance adjustments
      • Base accuracy increased by 13.6%
      • Jumping accuracy penalty reduced from 15% to 5%
      • Sprinting accuracy penalty reduced from 30% to 20%
      • Base damage increased from 23/24/25 to 24/25/26
    • The Burst SMG was dropping a bit too frequently for the role it was intended to fill. Additionally, it was underperforming when compared to similar items.
  • SemiAuto Sniper Rifle
    • Availability from floor loot reduced from 0.65% to 0.44%
    • Availability from chests reduced from 5.1% to 3.4%
  • FlintKnock Pistol
    • Availability from floor loot reduced from 1.97% to 1.32%
  • Infantry Rifle
    • Increased the Epic and Legendary Infantry Rifle clip size from 8 to 10

    • Increased player damage from 18/19 to 20/21
  • DrumGun
    • Reduced clip size from 50 to 40
    • Reduced fire rate from 9 to 8
    • Since the unvaulting, the Drum Gun has outperformed in unintended areas. This adjustment should help create more counterplay in combat.
  • Heavy Assault Rifle
    • Increased damage from 36/38/40 to 38/40/42
    • The Heavy Assault Rifle usage rates aren’t quite where we’d like. This adjustment to Damage is intended to offset some of the downsides of the weapon.

GAMEPLAY

  • Supply Llama
    • Increased the material count from 200 of each to 350 of each
    • Increased the total number of Llamas per match from 3 to 5

BATTLE ROYALE

    • Sniper rifles only. May the best aim win!
  • Trios
    • Classic Battle Royale with Three-Person squads.
  • Solid Gold Squads
    • Fight to the finish using Legendary weapons.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Chug Splash
    • On impact, this thrown item splashes liquid in a small area. All players within the splash radius will be instantly granted 20 Health/Shield.
      • Grants health unless you are full health, in which case it will grant Shield.
      • Chug Splash can heal allies, enemies, and can extend the duration of the ‘knocked’ state for knocked players.
    • Rare variant.
    • Drops in stacks of 2.
    • Max stack size: 6.
    • Can be found from Floor Loot, Chests, Vending Machines, Supply Drops, and Llamas.
  • Shotgun Swap Delay Removed
    • Shotgun cooldowns now only apply when the player is carrying multiple shotguns, regardless of Shotgun type.
      • This is a Quality of Life change to prevent the swap delay system from interfering with players who do not have multiple shotguns in their inventory. As with all changes, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Reduced the Combat Shotgun’s long-range effectiveness
    • Reduced damage at medium distances by 10%
      • 2.44 tiles to 4.88 tiles
    • Reduced damage at long distances by 20%
      • 4.88 tiles to 9.76 tiles
    • The Combat Shotgun’s accuracy uniquely enables players to hit shots from longer distances compared to other shotguns. However, the damage at those longer ranges was a little higher than desired..
  • Vaulted
    • Boom Bow
    • Dual Pistols
    • Dynamite
    • These Vaults are primarily targeted at adjusting the availability of explosives, putting them more in line with where we think they should be.
  • Removed the ability to ride Proximity Grenade Launcher projectiles
    • Due to the faster speed of this projectile, it was causing problems with level streaming. You can still ride rockets launched from Rocket Launchers.
  • Added short delay to start damaging players from Storm Flip on entry, to mimic normal Storm gameplay
  • Added Storm Flip to Audio Visualizer when it is activated
  • Toys no longer will show up in the elimination feed on Starter Island

Bug Fixes and Adjustments

  • Supply Drones would sometimes spawn underground in areas with water.
  • Adjusted the area of around the Reboot Van that players cannot build to prevent the placement of floors and traps under the Van.
  • The Proximity Grenade Launcher was auto reloading while aiming down sights.
    • This fix makes it consistent with Snipers and will reload once unscoping or after next attempt to fire.
  • Adjusted the timing for the effects of consumables to help situations where players would switch away from the consumable before it finished activating.
  • Reboot Cards will no longer fall to the ground. They will remain where they spawn.
  • Reboot Cards were remaining available on the map even after the timer had expired.
  • Campfires could block explosion damage at specific angles.
  • The Shadow Bomb double jump ability could be activated while under the effect of a Boogie Bomb.

  • Storm Flip would deal incorrect damage if two were overlapped on each other.
  • Storm Flip was able to stop a Supply Drop from falling
  • Weapons were showing while using emotes while on a Driftboard

GAMEPLAY

  • Made the “Hold to Swap” feature an option. This defaults as OFF.
    • With the option OFF, pickup is now back on the initial button press instead of button release. This should result in more responsive pickup behavior.
  • Made the Fortbyte Pressure Plate Puzzle NW of The Block easier to complete.
    • Once unlocked the Fortbyte will be available for up to 15 seconds.
    • Parking all vehicles on the pedestals will trigger them, except the Hoverboard.

  • Lowered the volume of vehicles in a Slipstream that doesn’t have a driver/passenger.
  • Increase the range for the enemy 1×1 pickaxe impact sound from 1 tile to 1.5 tiles

Bug Fixes and Adjustments

    • This was most noticeable with harvesting, explosion, and gunshot sounds.

UI

V9.20 PATCH NOTES

BATTLE ROYALE

WHAT’S NEW?

Storm Flip
Power of the storm in the palm of your hands!

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Storm Flip
    • Thrown item that explodes on impact and creates a sphere-shaped zone.
    • Where the sphere overlaps the storm, it will create a safe zone.
    • Where the sphere overlaps a safe zone, it will create a storm zone.
    • The Storm Flip deals the same damage as the current storm.
    • The zone lasts for 20 seconds before dissipating.
    • Available in Epic Rarity.
    • Can be found from Floor Loot, Chests, and Vending Machines.
    • Drops in stacks of 1.
    • Max stack of 1.
  • Vaulted
    • Hunting Rifle all variants
    • While we value the variety of longer range sniping options, the Hunting Rifle has become somewhat outclassed by the Infantry Rifle after it was changed to hitscan. In addition, there are a few Sniper Rifle options available and we feel it doesn’t currently fill a necessary role in the item lineup.
  • Loot Carrier
    • Reduced sniper package availability from 12.5% to 8.45%
    • Reduced explosive package availability from 12.5% to 7.04%
    • The chances of getting high-powered, rare items from Supply Drones was higher than felt appropriate, so we’ve reduced their availability slightly
  • Mounted turret
    • Overheat now takes 20% longer.
    • The Mounted Turret’s usage has decreased over time. By slightly increasing time before Overheat, the goal is to help increase its risk/reward.
  • Increased max charge time on Boom Bow from 1s to 1.25s
    • The Boom Bow is a bit stronger than we’d like. This adjustment should reduce frequency between shots, making misses riskier. We’d like to evaluate the impact of this change before making any additional adjustments, and it’s possible that more tweaks will be necessary if this doesn’t have the desired effect.
  • The Slipstream’s audio, pink ring, and spinning blades turn off when disabled during the fifth phase of the Storm.
  • Players revived from a Reboot Van will lose invulnerability upon shooting or building.

      • This week’s content update includes the Burst Submachine Gun, which shares a number of similarities with the Suppressed Submachine Gun (High DPS, Light Ammo, Rarity). Because of this overlap & not wanting to oversaturate itemization in any one area, we’ve decided to put the Suppressed back in the Vault.

V9.10 PATCH NOTES

BATTLE ROYALE

WHAT’S NEW?

Hot Spots
Randomly selected locations on the map that have a high loot rate with an increase of Supply Drops!

09BR_Social_LootCarriers_Social.jpg

LIMITED TIME MODE ROTATION:

SNIPER SHOOTOUT DUOS

Sniper Rifles only. Downed players are eliminated instantly. May the best aim win!

UNVAULTED SQUADS

Battle Royale gameplay with a limited set of weapons made up entirely of items that are vaulted in the standard modes.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS SQUADS

Close quarters combat with Shotguns & Jetpacks!

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Shadow Bombs
    • Reduced availability from floor loot from .835% to .677%
    • Reduced availability from chests from 4.65% to 3.98%
    • Reduced drop count from 3 to 2.
      • Shadow Bombs have seen a lot of late-game use, and we wanted to encourage risk vs. reward when picking the item up. By leaving maximum stack size the same & reducing availability, the item’s potential remains the same but swapping a spot for it early on is riskier.
  • Unvaulted Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle
    • Available in Vending Machines, Chests, and Floor Loot
    • Available in Uncommon and Rare variants
      • Since the Thermal Rifle and Scoped Revolver have both recently been vaulted, this week we wanted to bring back an oldie but goodie to round out the medium/long-range item line-up.
  • Combat Shotgun
    • Reduced the availability from floor loot from 2.015% to 1.409%
    • Reduced the availability from chest loot from 2.183% to 1.846%
      • When compared to other items of similar rarity, the Combat Shotgun was dropping a bit too frequently. This change will put it closer in line with other items.

Bug Fixes

  • Dropping part of a consumable item stack no longer interrupts using the consumable.
  • Shadow Bombs correctly leave the players inventory when no charges are left.
  • Shadow Bombs are consumed properly when quickly picking up a replacement item during activation.
  • Combat Shotgun now applies appropriate environmental damage falloff.
  • Ability to move is no longer lost if Rift-to-go was used with Balloons.
  • The Bush now correctly attaches to players in specific animations, such as skydiving.
  • Resolved inconsistent behavior while using Flint-Knock pistol during crouch.
  • Air vent audio is now correctly removed upon on destruction.
  • Boogie Bombs now properly prevent affected players from skydiving.
  • Camera issues when exiting a Mounted Turret have been resolved.
  • Remote Explosives will now open and close with doors they are stuck to.

GAMEPLAY

  • Introducing Hot Spots!
    • Every match, select named locations will be marked in gold text on the map.
      • These Hot Spots represent the presence of Loot Carriers. Shoot down the carriers for additional high-quality weapons.
        • Minimum of one Hot Spot
        • 25% chance for 2 Hot Spots
        • 5% chance for 3 Hot Spots
      • Loot Carriers
        • Loot Carriers drop a weapon of Rare or higher quality along with two stacks of ammo.
        • Hot Spots will have between 12 and 16 Loot Carriers depending on the size of the location.
  • Equipping the blueprint to start building has improved in high latency situations.
  • Added crosshair dot while skydiving to allow for more precise map marking.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with auto material swap canceling turbo build if the client can’t predict the material amount quick enough.
  • Updated Environmental and Cozy Campfire Trap collision to better allow players to walk over campfires.
  • Players can no longer fire/reload weapons while reviving a DBNO teammate.
  • Contrails are no longer stuck on the player if they dropped from the bus directly into a Slipstream.

PERFORMANCE

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a regression in level streaming performance introduced in v9.0. This should significantly improve loading times for buildings, and reduce instances of players landing on low-LOD meshes.
  • Reduced hitches shortly after landing, especially on lower-end hardware (e.g Switch)

AUDIO

  • Improved enemy jump sounds.
  • Reduced the time that it takes the enemy in-air audio loop to kick on, for better awareness of an enemy dropping in on you from above.
  • Boosted the volume of nearby footsteps and landing sounds of enemies not in line of sight.
  • Tighter spatialization of close-range pickaxe sounds from other players.
  • Added clearer sound when an enemy confirms an edit on a building piece within ~2 tiles of your position.
  • Removed glider audio tell for players traveling through a Slipstream.
  • Your emote music is now prioritized over other players emotes in the front-end.
  • Emote music is now full stereo when in the front-end.
  • Added a new Headshot + Shield Break sound, for when the two events occur at the same time.
  • Lowered the minimum velocity required to trigger a landing sound

Bug Fixes

  • Walking up on the edge of a building piece plays correct material specific footstep audio.
  • Enemy pickaxe sound now plays correctly from impact point and not from player using the pickaxe.
  • The Boom Bow’s fire sound has been fixed to not cut off when switching weapons immediately after shooting.
  • Firing weapons no longer lowers building sounds.

UI

  • Changed “Return To Lobby” to “Leave Match”.
  • Adjusted the “damage” color when taking shield damage back to an increased-contrast version of the original.
    • The intent is increased readability of current shield value immediately after taking damage, but red was causing players to believe they were taking more damage than they were.

Bug Fixes

  • Party Leaders who left their party’s current match could start a new match and take the entire party with them.

SPECTATING

Bug Fixes

  • Focus no longer changes when watching a server replay during the bus phase.
  • Watching live games will no longer change players when joining the Battle Bus.

MOBILE

  • Removed the HUD when respawning.
  • We’ve made improvements to the UI by adding an exit button to the following:

  • Playground Match Options
  • Events screen
  • Removed vibration toggle settings for devices that do not support vibration.

Bug Fixes

  • Players ammo count now correctly displays in all languages.
  • The Mini Map has been adjusted to fit correctly in large team LTM’s.
  • Bluetooth headset sound quality has been improved.

V9.01 PATCH NOTES

BATTLE ROYALE

WHAT’S NEW?

Tactical Assault Rifle
Tactics take the day! This robust and precise assault rifle is the ideal option for tight quarters.

00BR_Weapon-TacticalAssaultRifle_Social-(1).jpg

LIMITED TIME MODE: WICK’S BOUNTY

Summary
Every player begins with several gold tokens. Eliminating an enemy player pays out all of the tokens the target was carrying. The first squad to reach the specified gold token count wins the match.

Mode Details

  • Limited respawning: Each player has three lives.
  • The more tokens a player is carrying, the more visible on the map they will be when moving or shooting.
  • The top 3 token leaders will have their location shown on the map & compass at all times.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Tactical Assault Rifle
    • Available in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants.
    • Available from Floor Loot, Chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines
      • Fully Automatic
      • 30 Round Magazine
      • Deals 22/23/24 damage
      • Headshot Multiplier of 1.75x
      • This weapon has a tight spread in close quarters but is less effective at long range when compared to other Assault Rifles.
  • Reduced Baller health from 200 to 150
    • The primary goal of the Baller is to provide fun and exciting mobility. We feel that it still has a little too much defensive agency – this change should reduce the effectiveness there while not impacting its strengths.
  • Drum Gun adjustments
    • Reduced base damage from 26/27 to 22/23
      • Since its unvaulting, the Drum Gun effectiveness has been slightly higher than we wanted. This change should reduce its combat effectiveness while still retaining its flavor.
  • Vaulted Compact SMG
    • Due to the recent addition of the Drum Gun and the brand new Tactical Assault Rifle, we wanted to reduce the availability of high rate-of-fire weapons.

GAMEPLAY

  • Slipstream adjustments
    • Slipstreams no longer block building.
      • Trying to build up to get into a Slipstream should be an easy & intuitive experience. We noticed some cases where players would build up to the Slipstream, but due to build restrictions would take a ‘leap of faith’ and not make the jump. This should make getting into a Slipstream easier.
    • Players flying in a Slipstream will destroy player built objects when they collide.
    • Slipstreams are now disabled after storm phase 5.
      • We’ve seen a number of cases where Slipstreams caused issues during late game circles – primarily around getting pulled into the storm unexpectedly. Since the value of Slipstream mobility is limited in those scenarios, we felt it’s better to simply disable them.

PERFORMANCE

  • Improvements made to level streaming performance on all platforms.
    • This will reduce cases of buildings not loading in.
  • Physics optimizations to improve performance in conduits
